Event Description

Code-Jam is a premier coding contest of BITS Pilani Hyderabad Campus conducted every year at ATMOS. Free to code in any of a long list of languages, teams of 2 will be majorly judged in mathematics and understanding and implementation of algorithms. There are two rounds that aim at determining the best coders present at ATMOS. For both the rounds contestants will not be allowed the use of internet but they can carry at most one booklet (25 pages) for reference. Both the rounds will be held on the same day.

Rounds

Prelims -On-site round. Teams registered will compete in a 2 hours contest and will compete with all the others teams.

Final Round -Top 25 teams from the previous round will be selected for the final round which will be a 3 hour contest. The selected teams will bale to decide the top 3 who will receive cash prizes and the immense reverence associated with it.

Reverse Coding

Overview

Reverse engineering ranks highly among the programming Dark Arts. Obtaining the original source code from a program you're given gives you the power to do... pretty much anything. Here at Reverse Coding, we let you excercise this power to achieve the glory that awaits you.

EVENT DETAILS

The event shall be split into two rounds. The first round shall act as a qualifier for the second. The rankings at the end of the second round shall be the final rankings for the event.

Problem Statement

The first round will be a pen-and-paper round. In this round, you will be given input-ouput pairs for a particular program. You have to figure out what the program does by looking at said pair of input and output.

The second round will be in the computer labs. In this round, you will be given a working program. The program will ask you to enter six different passwords. You will have to analyze the program and figure out the passwords.

Algomaniac

Algomaniac is a two round event that tests the participant’s ability to solve logical problems and to come up with required algorithms. No previous coding knowledge will be necessary for participating in the event. Only the participant’s mental ability and logical reasoning ability will be tested.

RULES:

  1. The event is an individual event of two hours
  2. Time limit is generally from one hour to one and a half hours.

Round 1

  • In this round, students will get a set of twenty questions based on three difficulty settings (Easy, Medium and Hard).
  • Participants are expected to answer easy questions in 3-4 words, medium ones in one or two sentences and the hard ones in 4-5 sentences.
  • Time limit for Round 1 will be one hour.
  • The answers are to be written in the space provided in the question paper.
  • Papers and pens will be provided by CSA.
  • On completion, the students shall submit the question papers back to the invigilators.
  • The marking scheme will be mentioned for each question.
  • Top 40 participants from Round1 will qualify for Round 2.

Round two

  • Round two will be also be a subjective round.
  • In this round, students will be given another subjective question paper and the time limit will be one and a half hours.
  • Separate answer sheets will be provided this time around.
  • The problem will be based on general logical situations and puzzles.

General Rules

  1. The invigilating team has the authority to disqualify any participation in case of violation of rules.
  2. Once the event starts, no one else will be allowed to participate in the event.
  3. Participants are expected to bring a pen with them.
  4. Use of any kind of electronic gadgets is not permitted during the event.
